Where To Stay

There are so many great hotels in the Mt Pleasant/Charleston Area. Here are three favorites I've stayed at and would recommend for different reasons.

  • Budget option- TheCambria Hotel Mount Pleasant – Charleston is centrally located in Mount Pleasant with free parking and easy access to the local restaurants and attractions. This newer hotel is a great option.
  • Downtown Charleston- You can't beat the historic charm and location ofThe Elliott House Inn. This boutique hotel is on Queen Street, near the corner of King Street, and within walking distance of most downtown attractions. We stayed in one of the balcony-level rooms overlooking the courtyard.
  • On the beach- TheTides Folly Beachsits on the oceanfront next to the Folly Pier. If you want to stay on the beach you can't beat this location. I loved being able to walk to the unique Folly restaurants and shops on Center Street.

If you only have one day to spend in Mount Pleasant, I recommend starting at Boone Hall in the morning, having lunch at Shem Creek on the boardwalk, and then touring the USS Yorktown in the afternoon. My husband and I did this itinerary on our last trip and it was a great way to spend a Saturday.

And if you're in the Charleston area during the holidays, don't miss the amazing Holiday Festival of Lights on nearby James Island.

No matter what you choose to do in Mt. Pleasant, you’ll find it easy to fill a day, a weekend getaway or a family vacation. This list will help you have a great time.
