Don't know how to fight in Solo Leveling: Arise? Here's everything you need to know to become a combat expert!
You need to make proper preparations even before starting the stage. Equipping the right weapons and getting suitable hunters for your team will be essential to reaching the boss. To help you with that, here's a complete guide to clearing the final stage of Chapter Eight and beating Knight Commander Igris.
Best Weapons For Defeating Igris
When fighting against Igris, the three most effective weapons are the Frostbite Falchion, Thetis' Grimoire, and Vulcan's Rage. These weapons possess passive skills that can immobilize Igris and create more chances for you to deal substantial damage output.
The Frostbite Falchion and Thetis' Grimoire have a certain chance to inflict the 'Freeze' debuff on Igris. When frozen, Igris becomes immobilized, allowing you to focus your Ultimate Skills on him without interruption.
Vulcan's Rage, on the other hand, is great for dealing burst AoE damage. Using it can help you rapidly chip down Igris's HP, especially when combined with the vulnerability created by the Freeze effect. Equipping Vulcan's Rage along with the Frostbite Falchion or Thetis' Grimoire is the perfect strategy to take down the Knight Commander.
Best Hunters For Igris’ Boss Fight
When it comes to supporting Hunters for Chapter Eight, you can prefer one of two teams. You can either use hunters like Hwang Dungsuk and Nam Chae-Young to maximize the 'Break' effects from their Support Skills. Or, equip heavy hitters like Cha Hae-In, Choi Jong-In, Min Byung-Gu, and Seo Jiwoo to overwhelm his defenses with pure DPS.
Regardless of which hunters you equip, hitting Igris when his shield is down is the key to victory. Doing maximum damage in those small windows is how you can take down this boss with ease.
Igris The Red - Boss Overview
Before knowing how to beat Igris, there are a few things that you should know about him, including the moves he can do and the ways you can counter each of them. This way, you can clear the stage perfectly and even complete the battle missions.
Moves In Phase One
Attack | Details | How To Counter |
---|---|---|
Front Leap |
| More often than not, you can dodge this move by moving out of the 'Red Zone' without even using a 'Dash' skill. |
Double Stab |
| Moving in either direction towards the left or right can help you dodge this move easily. It does not require a 'Dash' skill. |
Spinning Blade |
| Igris charges the attack and gains 'Super Armor' at the beginning of this move. Use his charge-up window to move away from this move. |
Triple Swing Combo |
| Use a 'Dash' Skill to dodge this attack at all costs. Use 'Extreme Evasion' after this move ends to deal significant damage. |
Attacks that provide 'Super Armor' to Igris cannot be stopped using the 'Freeze' or 'Immobilize' effects. Your best bet is to deal damage in the charge-up windows and avoid close-combat in Phase One.
Moves In Phase Two
Attack | Details | How To Counter |
---|---|---|
Giant Leap |
| Dodge this skill with 'Dash', and try to trigger an 'Extreme Evasion.' You can nullify both the leap and shockwave with 'Extreme Evasion.' |
Spike Dash |
| Save the Multistrike skill specifically to counter this. You can't dodge it since there isn't any direct attack, but Multistrike makes you immune momentarily. |
Triple Sword Slash |
| Even though this attack might seem hard to counter at first, it is quite easy to dodge. After Igris teleports, you just have to turn 180 degrees backwards and move straight, as the shockwaves don't have a long range. |
Super Spikes |
| Stay out of the 'Red Zones', which pop up on the ground prior to the spikes appearing. In case you don't make it on time, use a 'Dash' skill to trigger 'Extreme Evasion.' |
Igris enters Phase Two when his HP drops below 50 percent. In Phase Two, his skill patterns change and he becomes more aggressive. He no longer triggers 'Super Armor' and can be immobilized with 'Freeze' effects.
How To Beat The Knight Commander, Igris The Red
Defeating Igris requires prioritizing the removal of his shield. There are two primary methods to achieve this. The first is to use hunters like Seo Jiwoo or Cha Hae-In, whose skill sets excel at shattering enemy defenses by causing 'Break' effects.
Alternatively, if you don't have access to those hunters, equip Sung Jinwoo with skills like Multistrike and Death's Dance. These skills significantly increase his 'Break' effect rate, allowing him to stun and stagger Igris frequently when timed correctly.
It's also crucial to note Igris's Exclusive Barrier buff, which activates when his HP drops below 50 percent during the second phase of the battle. This buff reduces the damage he takes, making it crucial to focus your highest DPS skills during the Break effect windows.
Rewards For Killing Igris
Clearing the final stage of Chapter Eight by defeating Igris is one of the most important stages in the entire game. After this, you unlock the 'Army of Shadows' feature which allows you to add Shadow units to your team and take them with you into dungeons.
You also unlock 'Shades' and 'Traces of Shadow' drops from Gates and Story Stages, which can be used to upgrade your Shadow Army level and promote Shadows.
